Verses of Quran about the Resurrection

Resurrection or Qiyamah is one of the important aspects of a Muslim’s belief. Quran speaks about the resurrection and gives arguments about it. Given below are the verses of Quran about the resurrection.

  • O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed – that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. That is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He is over all things competent. And [that they may know] that the Hour is coming – no doubt about it – and that Allah will resurrect those in the graves. (Al-Hajj 22:5-7)
  • And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, “Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?” Say, “He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing.” (Yaa Seen 36:78-79)
  • And they say, “When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected as a new creation?” Say, “Be you stones or iron or [any] creation of that which is great within your breasts.” And they will say, “Who will restore us?” Say, “He who brought you forth the first time.” Then they will nod their heads toward you and say, “When is that?” Say, “Perhaps it will be soon.” (Al-Israa’ 17:49-51)

          Four Basic Terms in Quran

          “And to every Messenger We ordained before you (O Prophet), the message which We gave for himself and for others) was none other than that “There is no Ilah but Myself, and therefore give your ‘ibadah to Me alone.” (Quran 21:31)

          Ilah, Rabb, Deen and Ibadah are the four basic and worthy terms in Quran. While reading we can notice that the Quran stresses repeatedly that Allah is the only Rabb (Lord or Cherisher) and that he is Ilah (God), and that there is no Ilah but only Allah. So only Allah should be worshipped alone and accepted. We also can find out in Quran that we should offer our Ibadah (worship) only to Allah and not anyone else and make our Deen (religion) limited to Him and to deny any other religions.

          Verily this Brotherhood of the Prophets is single Brotherhood, and I am the Rabb of you all, wherefore give your ‘ibadah to Me alone. (Quran 21:92)

          We have to become obvious about given verses and understand that it is necessary for us to study the teachings and sayings of Quran. We need to recognize fully the meaning of these four basic terms of Quran (Ilah, Rabb, Deen and ‘Ibadah). If we read Quran without understanding the meaning of these four basic terms, we will lose the idea of the fundamental message of Quran.

          Do you wish for some deen other than’ Allah’s, (and this despite the fact that to Him submits all there is in the Heavens and in or upon the Earth, willingly or unwilling, and all are to return unto Him? (Quran 3:83)

          Verily Allah is my Rabb, and is yours too; therefore, give your worship to Him alone-that (truly is the only real) straight path. (Quran 3:61)
